Vata-Pacifying: Stabilize and Concentrate
These practices will offer the student an opportunity to calm the mind, take the senses inward, and calm the nervous system. Postures and breath-enhanced movement will focus on slow, methodical movement, pelvic girdle and flexion of the spine.
According to Ayurveda, an ancient East Indian science and medicine, Vata is a biodynamic force in the body that manages the qualities of the ether and air elements found in nature. Vata-pacifying practices are suitable for dry, cool, windy weather or when one feels anxious, unsettled, and/or overstimulated.
